Policing across the world has undergone a critical transformation in the last decades. There is little resemblance between the 1970s policing and the current policing. In the last few years, with the advancement in the technology, policing has adopted the use of new technological tools, such as the computer, in-car computing, and mobile phone to ease its operations. Today, the advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science has the potential to transform the Policing ecosystem in fundamental ways.
The challenges in this hackathon will focus on novel applications of intelligence-led policing from data analytics and automation to cognitive assistants and humanized Artificial Intelligence.
Algorithm: Data and Predictive Analytics (Competition to design the best Algorithm): Policing processes deals with large amount of related data islands (i.e., big data) from private, open, social and IoT data. For example, analyse social networks to predict and identify Cyber-/online-bullying and Extremist and criminal behaviour.
Prototype: Cognitive Assistants Competition to design the best prototype solution: Using cognitive technology to help police investigators in decision making. Please see iCOP (LINK) as an example.
Mockup: Enabling IoT in Policing (Competition to design the best Mockup solution): Recently, the Internet of Things (IoT: the network of physical objects augmented with Internet-enabled computing devices to enable those objects sense the real world), has been widely adopted for the implementation and integration of data-driven processes within and across enterprises. Applications include design and innovations for Smart Entities such as: smart airports, police cars, police uniforms, watches, mobile, drone, etc.
